I used to panic every time I pitched a client

Hi Reader,

Have you ever had to pitch a client and wondered what you should include to actually win the project?

Your deck’s open, your laptop’s covered in tabs, and you start thinking you need to include everything to win the project.

I’ve been there – but this simple pitch deck structure has helped me win 2 big client projects last year, and it’s helped other motion designers too.

Here’s what I include in my pitch decks:

  1. I focus on the client, not me or my background
I include a page that reflects their campaign goals – the outcome they want, what success looks like, and what we’re aiming to shift. It’s basically me saying, “I heard you.”
  2. Then I show proof (real work = real results)
A couple of short case studies that show I’ve solved similar problems before, and I know how to get them results.
  3. I give the client options at different price points
Provide them with a few routes: a baseline version, a mid option, and I anchor with a high price. Turns this into a “which package do you want” rather than a “yes or no” conversion.
  4. I add a page on how we’ll measure success
It reassures the client that we’re not just making something that looks nice – we’re making something that performs. Views, watch time, click-throughs, sign-ups… whatever fits the project.

That’s all there is to it! Four parts – clear, repeatable, and way less stressful.

To help make this even easier, I build all my decks in Pitch, and I’ve created a free motion design pitch deck template you can reuse.

If you’re pitching soon and you want to stop overthinking every slide, you can grab my free template here, and if you want to build your next deck in Pitch, there’s a discount for you below. 👇

I saw a group of young women taking photos of a handwritten message left by the Underground staff. It immediately made me smile. It got me thinking about how we might create these unexpected moments of delight for our clients. 😊 5 smile-trigger ideas for your clients: Send them a “motion design health...

Hey Reader, Nassib is a motion designer with 20 years of experience in the industry. He’d never had a system when it came to client outreach. Never properly organised his client relationships. Or maintained a systematic approach to follow ups. Nassib finally went back through his email history as part of a Client Outreach Sprint we did inside Creative & Coin. Buried in his inbox was a potential $60k project he never followed up on! He learned the client did go ahead with that work....
