Best motion designer website - made in 1 week

Hey Reader,

Two weeks ago, a post from Jakub, a Balanced Business Bootcamp member, appeared in my feed.

He told everyone not to hire him for work.

This piqued my interest. What was he up to?

And why was he telling clients NOT TO BOOK HIM?!?

He was setting out on a challenge.

To build his new website in one week!

I dunno about you, but that sounds hard!!!!

In BBB, we set actionable goals, so I was immediately excited about his experiment in public.

From then on, Jakub posted his website's progress daily at 4 p.m.

Talk about being brave!

Days 1 and 2 went pretty smoothly, mainly focusing on design.

Day 3, he had a disaster as he woke up not feeling too well.

He still managed to get 30 minutes done on some wireframes.

Day 4: Jakub faced what many of us do on our personal creative journey.

But he embraced the challenge and managed to push on.

And on Day 5, He smashed it out of the park and presented his website.

What impressed me the most was his About page.

Working with Jakub every week to help him grow his motion design business.

I know him pretty well.

But even I learned things about him I didn’t know.

His About page gave me a well-rounded perspective on:

  • How he approaches his work
  • What he likes
  • What he is inspired by

And generally, his personality.

For his ideal clients, this would be super attractive.

So will you challenge yourself to do your website in a week?

If you do, tag Motion Hatch so I can help hold you accountable.

Appreciate you!

Hayley

This issue is sponsored by Pitch Have you ever had your day completely turned around by a small act of kindness? Last week, I disembarked from a sauna-like train from Manchester to London. I saw a group of young women taking photos of a handwritten message left by the Underground staff. It immediately made me smile. It got me thinking about how we might create these unexpected moments of delight for our clients. 😊 5 smile-trigger ideas for your clients: Send them a “motion design health...

Hey Reader, Nassib is a motion designer with 20 years of experience in the industry. He’d never had a system when it came to client outreach. Never properly organised his client relationships. Or maintained a systematic approach to follow ups. Nassib finally went back through his email history as part of a Client Outreach Sprint we did inside Creative & Coin. Buried in his inbox was a potential $60k project he never followed up on! He learned the client did go ahead with that work....
