I used to think winning pitches was about the creative

Hi Reader,

When I started pitching clients, I’d get a brief and make it all about the creative, and I wouldn’t win the project.

Many times working at Google, I pitched animations and focused only on style, colours, texture, and story.

My pitches were missing one vital piece: the client’s goals.

Once I started listening to their problems and sharing their goals back to them.

I started to win more pitches.

And now, with Pitch’s MCP, it’s even easier, because you can ask Claude or ChatGPT to take your client call notes and briefs and make your pitch deck from there.

Grabbing the exact language the client used and relaying it back shows them you listened.

This helps you win projects and deliver results for your clients.

To help make this even easier, I build all my decks in Pitch, and I’ve created a free motion design pitch deck template you can reuse.

Download my free pitch deck template and try Pitch’s MCP to create your next deck within 10 mins of hanging up the phone with your client.

Here’s what I include in my pitch decks:

  1. I focus on the client, not me or my background I include a page that reflects their campaign goals – the outcome they want, what success looks like, and what we’re aiming to shift. It’s basically me saying, “I heard you.”
  2. Then I show proof (real work = real results) A couple of short case studies that show I’ve solved similar problems before, and I know how to get them results.
  3. I give the client options at different price points Provide them with a few routes: a baseline version, a mid option, and I anchor with a high price. Turns this into a “which package do you want” rather than a “yes or no” conversion.
  4. I add a page on how we’ll measure success It reassures the client that we’re not just making something that looks nice – we’re making something that performs. Views, watch time, click-throughs, sign-ups… whatever fits the project.

That’s all there is to it! Four parts – clear, repeatable, and way less stressful.

Appreciate you,

Hayley 😊

This issue is sponsored by Pitch Hi Reader, Last year, I cold-emailed a brand I’d wanted to work with for ages! They actually replied, I couldn’t believe it. Unfortunately, they didn’t want to jump on a call with me. (no time) But they DID want to see what I could do for them. Errrr….What do I send them? How do I get them to say yes? What I could have done was send them one project idea and a flat fee and hoped for the best! But I had no idea what their budget was. Instead, I created a...

This issue is sponsored by Pitch Hi Reader, Have you ever had to pitch a client and wondered what you should include to actually win the project? Your deck’s open, your laptop’s covered in tabs, and you start thinking you need to include everything to win the project. I’ve been there – but this simple pitch deck structure has helped me win 2 big client projects last year, and it’s helped other motion designers too. Here’s what I include in my pitch decks: I focus on the client, not me or my...

This issue is sponsored by Pitch Have you ever had your day completely turned around by a small act of kindness? Last week, I disembarked from a sauna-like train from Manchester to London. I saw a group of young women taking photos of a handwritten message left by the Underground staff. It immediately made me smile. It got me thinking about how we might create these unexpected moments of delight for our clients. 😊 5 smile-trigger ideas for your clients: Send them a “motion design health...
